Volunteers are the key to success of the VITA program. Last year, over 100 volunteers donated their time to assist members of the community. Close to 8,000 individuals and families utilized VITA and returned $12 million in refunds back to the community. With over 20 locations in Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan, you can volunteer where it is most convenient for you. All sites vary in the time that they are open and we ask that you commit a minimum of 8 hours per week. No prior experience is necessary and training is free! All VITA Volunteers are required to take the Volunteer Standards of Conduct Exam, regardless of their role in the VITA program. Once you feel comfortable with the tax preparation process, follow the link below to start the certification process.
