Urban Upbound is dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty in New York City public housing and other low-income neighborhoods. To continue to serve our community, every year we organize a gala to raise funds for our programs. Last year, COVID-19 made us go virtual. Despite more relaxed regulations this year, many people are still concerned about large in-person gatherings.
Therefore, to keep everyone safe, we have taken out the large crowd component associated with a gala and have kept the dining element. The gala program will be published on our website on October 19, 2021, and our gala supporters will be able to enjoy their gala meal with their loved ones at one of the Major Food Group’s exclusive restaurants on a day of their choosing. Enjoy our gala virtually on this web page on October 19 and we hope that you will think of Urban Upbound’s achievements and impact as you enjoy your meal!
This year, Urban Upbound is thrilled to honor Costa Constantinides, CEO of Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens (VBGCQ). Prior to joining VBGCQ, Costa served as the City Council Member for District 22 for eight years. While serving as a Council Member, Costa always showed his commitment to supporting Urban Upbound and our community, including securing over 25 million dollars to bring some measure of equity to residents of public housing. We are honored to celebrate a fantastic champion of the people as we raise support to ensure more New Yorkers can be financially independent and break the cycle of generational poverty.
